Sell replacement parts for discontinued furniture indefinitely

A single stripped cam lock sends an entire dresser to landfill. IKEA already gives away small hardware free, but only for current lines. Commit to a 15-year parts window for every product, even after it leaves the catalog, and print the part numbers in the assembly manual.

The part numbers in the manual is the underrated half of this. Right now you have to describe the shape of a screw to a person at the counter.

Fifteen years might be a stretch on tooling costs for injection-molded parts. Ten with published CAD files after that, so anyone can print their own?

Publishing the CAD is a better ending than a warehouse full of obsolete cam locks. Editing the idea to say that.
